Retirement Community Movers Southwest Florida

A piano is not just heavy. It is irreplaceable, emotionally significant, and mechanically delicate in ways that standard movers do not understand. The strings, hammers, soundboard, and finish can be permanently damaged by improper handling, and Southwest Florida's heat and humidity add another layer of risk that most moving companies ignore entirely. Frank & Sons Moving and Storage has been the trusted piano movers Southwest Florida families, churches, schools, and musicians rely on since 1982. Upright pianos, baby grands, grand pianos, antique instruments, and digital pianos. Specialty equipment, trained crews, climate-aware transport, and secure piano storage in our monitored warehouse. Piano Movers & Piano Storage Southwest Florida Professional Piano Movers & Piano Storage Southwest Florida

A piano is one of the most difficult items to move in any home, and it is also one of the most valuable, both financially and emotionally. Unlike a couch or a dining table, a piano is a precision musical instrument with thousands of moving parts: strings under enormous tension, hammers aligned to fractions of a millimeter, a soundboard that resonates with the slightest change in humidity, and a finish that scratches, dents, and water-stains with minimal contact. A standard moving crew that treats a piano like a heavy piece of furniture will damage it. Not might. Will. The legs are vulnerable. The pedal assembly is fragile. The lid scratches if it is not wrapped correctly. The internal mechanisms shift if the piano is tilted at the wrong angle or dropped even a few inches. And in Southwest Florida, the heat and humidity between the truck and the front door can cause tuning instability, soundboard swelling, and finish damage if the piano is left exposed during transport.

Frank & Sons Moving and Storage has been the trusted piano movers Southwest Florida families, musicians, churches, schools, and concert venues rely on since 1982. We move upright pianos, baby grand pianos, grand pianos, concert grand pianos, antique and vintage pianos, player pianos, and high-end digital pianos across Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, North Fort Myers, Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, North Port, Englewood, Sanibel Island, Pine Island, and communities throughout Lee, Collier, Charlotte, and Sarasota counties. Every piano move uses specialty equipment, trained crews, and climate-aware transport practices designed specifically for the unique challenges that pianos present in the Southwest Florida environment.

Types of Pianos We Move

Upright pianos - the most common piano in Southwest Florida homes. Uprights typically weigh between 300 and 900 pounds depending on the model and age, and they require a piano board, heavy-duty straps, and a minimum of three trained movers. The top must be protected, the keys covered, the pedals secured, and the entire instrument wrapped in thick quilted padding before it leaves the room. We use piano skid shoes to prevent floor damage and navigate doorways and hallways without contact
Baby grand pianos - typically 5 to 6 feet in length and 500 to 600 pounds. Baby grands require leg removal, lid securing, full quilted wrapping, and transport on a piano board in a specific position to protect the soundboard and strings. The legs are wrapped separately and reassembled at the destination. This is a job that requires experience because an improperly positioned baby grand on a piano board can shift during transport and sustain internal damage
Grand pianos - 6 to 9 feet in length and 700 to 1,200 pounds. Grand piano moves are the most complex piano jobs we handle. Legs removed and wrapped individually, lyre and pedal assembly detached and protected, lid secured and padded, the body wrapped in multiple layers of quilted padding, and the entire instrument transported on a heavy-duty piano board with ratchet straps. At the destination, everything is reassembled, leveled, and positioned exactly where the owner directs
Antique and vintage pianos - instruments that may be 50, 75, or 100+ years old with irreplaceable woodwork, ivory keys, hand-carved details, and finishes that cannot be replicated. These pianos require the most careful handling of any item we move. Extra padding, slower pace, and the understanding that damage to an antique piano is permanent
Player pianos and digital pianos - player pianos have additional mechanical or electronic components that need to be secured during transport. High-end digital pianos and stage keyboards with weighted keys are lighter but still require professional handling to protect the electronics, screens, and key mechanisms

Piano Moving Services We Provide

Local piano moves across Southwest Florida - from one home to another within Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, North Fort Myers, Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, North Port, Englewood, and all surrounding communities. Same-day moves with specialty equipment and trained piano crews
Long distance piano moves - relocating a piano to or from Southwest Florida. Full interstate piano transport with climate-aware loading, secure positioning in the truck, and professional delivery and setup at the destination. We handle pianos coming from the Northeast, Midwest, and everywhere in between
Piano storage - our 10,000+ square foot, 24/7 monitored warehouse provides secure piano storage for any duration. Between homes, during renovations, during estate settlements, or for any reason you need your piano stored safely. The warehouse is climate-monitored and the piano is positioned to minimize environmental stress on the soundboard and strings
In-home piano moves - moving a piano from one room to another within the same home. This seems simple but it is one of the most common sources of piano damage because homeowners attempt it themselves. Floor damage, wall damage, door frame damage, and piano damage. Let us handle it with the right equipment and the right technique
Staircase piano moves - moving a piano up or down stairs is one of the most challenging moving tasks that exists. The weight, the angle, the balance, and the risk to both the piano and the movers require experienced crews, proper equipment, and a plan that accounts for every step. We assess the staircase in advance and determine the safest approach before moving day
High-rise and condo piano moves - elevator coordination, loading dock scheduling, common area floor and wall protection, and building management approval are all required before a piano enters a high-rise building. We handle all coordination with the building and navigate the logistics of getting a 500 to 1,200 pound instrument from a truck through a lobby and into an elevator without damaging the piano, the building, or any common areas
Church and school piano moves - churches, schools, and community organizations across Southwest Florida rely on us to move pianos for sanctuary renovations, campus relocations, stage setups, and equipment transitions. We work around service schedules, school hours, and event calendars
Estate piano relocations - when a family is settling an estate, the piano is often the most difficult item to deal with. It may be going to a family member across town, a family member across the country, into storage, or to a new owner. We handle the logistics regardless of the destination and coordinate with estate attorneys, executors, or family representatives

Florida Humidity and Your Piano Why Climate-Aware Moving Matters

Southwest Florida's climate presents a unique challenge for piano moving that does not exist in most other parts of the country. The average humidity in Fort Myers, Naples, and Cape Coral hovers between 70% and 90% for much of the year, and summer temperatures regularly exceed 90 degrees. A piano that sits in a non-climate-controlled truck for even 30 minutes in August is exposed to conditions that can cause soundboard swelling, pin block expansion, string corrosion, key sticking, and finish clouding. Wood absorbs moisture and expands. When the piano is brought into an air-conditioned home, the wood contracts. This expansion and contraction cycle can crack a soundboard, loosen tuning pins, and cause structural damage that costs thousands to repair.

Our piano moving practices account for this reality. We minimize the time the piano spends outside climate control by positioning the truck as close to the door as possible, wrapping the piano inside the home before opening the front door, and moving directly from the home to the truck without extended outdoor exposure. On delivery, we reverse the process: truck positioned, path cleared, piano moved directly inside. For storage, our warehouse is climate-monitored to prevent the humidity extremes that damage instruments. We also recommend that every piano be tuned two to three weeks after a move to allow the instrument to acclimate to its new environment before a tuner makes adjustments. Moving a piano changes its environment, and even a perfectly executed move will require post-move tuning. This is normal, expected, and not a sign of damage.

Why Southwest Florida Families Trust Frank & Sons with Their Pianos

Piano-specific equipment on every job - piano boards, heavy-duty ratchet straps rated for piano weight, quilted padding designed for piano finishes, piano skid shoes for floor protection, and the dollies and ramps engineered for instruments of this weight and fragility. We do not improvise with furniture blankets and hope for the best
Trained piano crews - not every mover on our team handles pianos. Piano moves are assigned to crew members who have specific training and experience with piano disassembly, wrapping, boarding, transport, reassembly, and placement. They understand the instrument, its vulnerabilities, and the techniques that protect it
Climate-aware practices for Florida conditions - we understand what Southwest Florida humidity does to pianos, and every step of our process is designed to minimize environmental exposure. Wrap inside, move fast, deliver inside. No sitting on a truck in the sun
Transparent piano-specific pricing - piano moves are quoted separately from standard moves because they require specialty equipment and trained crews. You get a clear quote based on your piano type, the access at both locations, and the distance. No surprises
Licensed, insured, and family-owned since 1982 - your piano is fully insured during transport. FL Mover IM-24, USDOT 1122554. Not a side job, not a favor from a friend with a truck. Professional, insured piano moving from a company that has been doing this for over 40 years

How Your Piano Move Works with Frank & Sons

Call or request a quote - tell us your piano type (upright, baby grand, grand, antique), the pickup and delivery locations, any stairs or elevator access, and your preferred timeline
We assess access at both locations - doorway widths, hallway turns, stairs, elevators, distance from truck to door, and any obstacles that affect the move plan. For complex access, we visit in advance
Specialty wrapping and preparation - keys covered, lid secured, pedals protected, legs removed if grand or baby grand, full quilted wrapping applied, piano secured to the piano board with heavy-duty straps. All done inside the home before the front door opens
Climate-aware transport and delivery - piano moved directly from home to truck, transported securely, and delivered directly into the new location. Legs reassembled, piano positioned, leveled, and ready to play. We recommend scheduling a tuner two to three weeks after the move for optimal results
